A Dance with Van Richten’s Grief

Depicted moment
During Session 5, Rage attempted to dance with the ghost of a red-haired, violet-eyed monster hunter. Her presence overwhelmed him with Van Richten’s fear, guilt, and grief. Erasmus later revealed that she had sacrificed herself in the woods to save Van Richten.
The illustration combines the ballroom encounter with the later memory of her sacrifice.

In a dark, candlelit ballroom, towering Rage has dropped to one knee with grief crossing his face and his greataxe resting nearby. A transparent red-haired woman with two small wounds on her neck reaches toward his open hand. Violet ghost-light flows through him and rises into a memory of the woman shielding Van Richten from an unseen threat in a moonlit forest.
