Carver tends Buddy beneath the protection of a Silent Sanctum after Rage, fearing that the farmer’s wolf wounds might spread lycanthropy, amputates one injured forearm.

Artistic interpretation

The image stages the aftermath rather than the blow itself. The visible magical dome and exact reactions are interpretive. An earlier version made both of Buddy’s arms appear amputated; the accepted correction gives him exactly one bandaged forearm stump and one complete arm and hand.
