Rather than remain trapped by the undead roadblock, Ignatius drives the coach through it. Rage clings to its flank, Carver and Chip strike from the doorway, and the unidentified spellcaster casts after the fleeing party.

Artistic interpretation

The exact arrangement and number of corpses, the spellcaster’s appearance, and the simultaneous actions are interpretive compression. A revised final rendering removed pervasive gritty microtexture from the road and lower foreground while preserving the accepted composition.
