Hyskosa’s Scrying Pool

Hyskosa guides a blood-dark scrying pool as Ankhtepot's golden vision appears within it.

Depicted moment

In the Castle Avernus Torture Chamber, Hyskosa uses Rage’s blood to form a scrying pool in the central copper basin. Carver and Ignatius watch as the pool shows Ankhtepot, a giant golden heart-like relic, and a circling eagle.

Artistic interpretation

The basin’s precise shape, the golden chamber’s layout, and the pharaoh-like silhouette are visual interpretation of a remote, unstable vision. The image treats the heart and collar-like object described at the table as one uncertain golden relic rather than establishing its exact form. Rage’s offered blood and Carver’s lantern are staging details that clarify the ritual.

Canonical status

Approved Session 19 artwork. Its rendering was refined after review to reduce visual noise while preserving Hyskosa’s empty, non-glowing eye sockets and unlit eye amulet. Ankhtepot’s scene remains a reflection rather than a physical manifestation in Castle Avernus.

Alt text

Hyskosa, an eyeless silver-haired Vistani seer, reaches over a dark copper scrying basin in a cage-lined chamber. Carver holds a lantern, Rage offers a bloodied hand, and Ignatius watches. In the basin’s gold-lit reflection, an eagle circles above a giant heart-like relic and a distant pharaoh-like figure.
