Depicted moment

The moment the party’s pre-Darkon memories return becomes Voss’s revelation: he remembers that his name is Mordenkainen. Rage, Ignatius, and Carver stand with him in the Svalich Woods as the River Dancer begins to disappear into Barovia’s Mists.

Canonical status

This is canonical Session 23 art. Voss remains in his amnesia-era prison clothing because the image depicts the moment before he outwardly resumes Mordenkainen’s staff, spellbook, and archmage presentation. The exact shape of the returning magic and the party’s positions are interpretive staging.
