The Rite Beneath Watcher House

Rage, Ignatius, and Carver enter a hidden cellar ritual chamber as robed cultists channel crimson-violet magic around a pentagram and a lit Boom Stick burns at its center.

Depicted moment

Carver has thrown a lit Boom Stick into the hidden ritual chamber beneath Lady Watcher’s House. Rage and Ignatius advance through the secret doorway while Chip hovers beside Carver and the gathered cultists continue channeling power into the rite.

Artistic interpretation

The illustration compresses the discovery of the chamber, the final seconds before the explosion, and the party’s charge into one tableau. The precise number and arrangement of lesser cultists, chairs, lanterns, ritual markings, and magical currents are interpretive staging; the four principal seated acolytes and additional cultists were distinct in the table record.

Canonical status

This is canonical Session 26 art. It preserves Rage’s towering scale and red-tinted Sun Blade, Ignatius’s unarmed dragonborn form, Carver’s adult tabaxi proportions and pistol, and Chip’s wholly spectral feline body. The cultists remain anonymous, and the image does not establish the ritual’s exact magical mechanism.

In a low stone-and-earth cellar chamber, six hooded cultists seated around a pentagram reach inward with crimson-violet magical energy. A short iron explosive with a burning fuse lies at the center. Beyond it, the towering bearded Rage advances with a broad red radiant blade beside the horned black dragonborn Ignatius, while the brown-gray tabaxi Carver aims a compact pistol and the blue-white spectral cat Chip floats above his shoulder.
