Pearl breaks the horse tether while Ignatius stands between Lars and the approaching guards. Lars remains bound; the snapped tether prevents dragging. Ignatius’s handling of the slack rope is illustrative staging rather than an additional recorded action. Lars’s appearance, the square, and distant militia are interpretive.
