Azalin’s Coinage

Hook

Twelve coins among Rage’s spice-selling proceeds bore Azalin’s face instead of the customary skull, marking them as having passed through the Darklord’s personal coffers.

Black Lily later used a separate Azalin-faced coin as a Mist talisman leading directly to Martira Bay, establishing that at least some of the coins carry more than historical significance.

The party later found chests full of Azalin-faced coins behind an invisible seal beneath Castle Avernus. Carver detected no magic on that larger cache, and the party did not record taking any during the discovery.

Open questions

  • Who paid with the coins?
  • Why were so many circulating at the Rivalis fair?
  • Can their path be traced to an agent, institution, or location?
  • Can the party’s twelve coins also function as Mist talismans, and where would they lead?
  • Why was Black Lily’s coin keyed to Martira Bay?
  • Why did Castle Avernus hold a sealed cache of otherwise mundane Azalin-faced coins?
