Kargat
At a glance
A secretive supernatural organization operating above the mortal Kargatane. The party knows senior agents include vampires, though the full nature of its membership remains uncertain.
What they want
Power over Martira Bay and Darkon. Its agents have pursued territorial expansion, supernatural secrets, influence over other factions, and possible control of Castle Avernus and Il Aluk.
What the party knows
- Alcio “Baron” Metus, a scarred vampire, heads the Kargat and rules Martira Bay.
- Darian Corvrick is a vampire, full Kargat member, and former patron of Black Lily.
- Darian rewarded the party for killing High Sentinel Ablander and described the Kargat as striving for greatness through power.
- Wererats operating from a Martira Bay hideout serve Baron Metus.
- Darian sent blood-sealed instructions concerning Neblus and zealots in Nevuchar Springs.
- Two presumed Kargat vampiric thralls accompanied Vermoth’s attempted betrayal outside the city.
- Black Lily’s note suggested that a phylactery is hidden in Castle Avernus.
- Darian’s name is absent from Castle Avernus’s Library of Names; he says it was erased.
- The vampire Allaric Van Stradleheim urged the party to seize Darkon through the Kargatane and target Il Aluk next, though his authority within the Kargat was not established.
- After Black Lily’s death, a Kargat vampire supervised the investigation at the Rat House, blamed a failed plan for making Martira Bay feel safe, and entered the building in bat form while guards locked down the district.
